Learning to love ourselves often begins with accepting the parts of us that make us different rather than hiding them to belong. In Rioba’s story, the rising sun becomes the symbol of self-love, resilience, belonging, and finding the strength to take root wherever life carries us.

After leaving Alexandria with her siblings Sandi and Afani, Rioba experiences the challenges of migration, survival, and being treated as an outsider. Their knowledge of silkworms eventually brings them opportunity in Venice, but acceptance does not come easily. As the siblings build a successful new life together, they gradually realize that belonging does not require forgetting where they came from or changing who they are.

This is a story about self-love, identity, family, belonging, resilience, and cultural acceptance.
